From Class Secretary to CEO
Gordon and I attended the Open House at Madison's school last night. We were able to meet the Kindergarten teachers for the next school year (August 2011), ask questions and see their classrooms. We also had the wonderful opportunity to meet with Madison's current K-4 teacher. Her teacher said that she is so surprised at how quickly Madison is progressing having only been at the school since January. Due to the fact that she started late in the school year (January 2011 vs. August 2010), she missed out on a lot of the lessons that were taught. However, she has caught on so quickly and at 4 years old she has already started reading and writing. Everywhere we go, she is sounding out the names of stores, streets, etc. If you ask her what a sentence is, she will tell you, "A sentence is a group of words that expresses a complete thought...." ...and she goes on... I can't even remember it all. The teacher also said that she refers to Madison as the, "Class Secretary". She told us that whenever the class gathers for "group time", Madison always comes with a small notepad and pencil in hand and insists on taking notes! She listens intently with her eyes and her ears, while quickly writing down what she calls, "importants". The teacher told us that she even takes notes in Chapel; which is kind of funny, because at our church, our Pastor provides "fill in the blank" notes for all 1200-1500 parishoners and Madison watches us "take notes" in church every Sunday. We are very proud of Madison. This week alone, she received two classroom awards. One award was the "Wise Worker" award and the other was the "Quiet as a Church Mouse" award. The teacher describes Madison as a very smart young lady who is a very good listener (is she still talking about our daughter) who she is convinced, will one day become a CEO. In fact, she was quite tickled to hear that Madison refers to herself as an entrepreneur and that we have "corporation meetings" every night. Our bylaws so far, as created by the President herself, are as follows: 1. We are Harrison Girls and we always use our listening ears. and 2. We don't get our name on the board at school. She calls me to her room every night to have these meetings. It's a lot of fun!
It's just amazing to us the strides she taken so far and she's only four years old. We know that GREAT things are in store for her and we contuine to pray for God's wisdom in raising her as only He knows the future. Her future.

"Big Girl School"

Mimi is doing so well at school. The teacher says that she's a good listener and that she has such a yearning for learning! We are very proud of her. She is adjusting to the sudden change very nicely and she looks just too darn cute in her uniform! We are excited and we are expecting GREAT things from her! Tuesday, January 11, 2011

Photos by Nicole Geller Photography (Tampa)

Madison had a few photos taken on Friday by an amazing photographer named Nicole of http://www.nicolegellerphotography.com/ She has the sweetest assistant, named Caroline and together they hosted the Matilda Jane Clothing photo contest. Each girl that participated will have one of their photos submitted to the clothing company for a chance to be featured in their online store. Madison had so much fun posing (we all know what a ham she is). The following day when I told her that I was going to take pictures of her for the violin recital, she asked me if we were going to "her studio". So funny! She claimed, Nicole's studio as her own! The studio is located in Tampa. If you need some pictures taken, feel free to check them out. The studio is really cool...I love just how warm, inviting and eclectic it is! Nicole did a great job with the kids and she had the cutest gadgets to get them to smile. What a wonderful experience, keep your fingers crossed with me and let's hope Madison gets "the call".
