Fun in Ft. Myers with Fabulous Friends

This weekend we drove down to Ft. Myers to see our friends Patty & Scott and their adorable five year old son, Ryan (“Ry Ry”). The three hour drive down Interstate 75 was a breeze (especially because Gordon was driving). Madison and I had fun in the van…talking…laughing…singing and simultaneously watching our own movies…she watched Dora the Explorer and I watched the documentary about the fall of Enron….how exciting! We started out a bit late…rough week at work for both of us and we were so very tired. Guy Guy made sandwiches for our trip and packed lots of snacks for Mimi in a picnic basket…so we had no need to stop. After we arrived and exchanged hugs and kisses, we headed out to Ruby Tuesday for lunch…and oh was I impressed. I’ve only been there once and it was a long time ago…boy have they upgraded! Mimi and Ry Ry share a love for French fries and chicken….oh and lets not forget CHOCOLATE cookies!
After lunch we went to a park where we truly had a blast. The kids went on the swings, rode bikes and just had a whole lot of fun!
That evening, Patty and I left the kids at home with the husbands and we went to The Ft. Myers Melting Pot to have a little “fondue fun”. What a wonderful experience! Our server Sean was awesome. We talked, we laughed, we shared our experiences as Mothers and we moaned and groaned over the delicious cheese and decadent chocolate! Sunday was another wonderful day, not only was the weather beautiful, but we spent the afternoon at Patty’s parents house. Her dad made his famous Jamaican Jerk Pork….OH MY GOODNESS…and her Mom made a Pineapple Upside Down cake that was to die for! We spent the rest of the afternoon outside in their very spacious backyard and watched the kids play.
Madison and Ryan really had fun together. He really looked out for her and took care of her, while she just walked behind him and did EVERYTHING that he did! It was so cute to see them play together, yet at times just do their own thing…you could tell they are only children.
We wrapped up our weekend with a short word of prayer with the family and started our three hour journey back home to Spring Hill. On the way back we had to stop at CVS to print some pictures for a school project that Madison had to have completed for Monday morning….so needless to say when we got home, I was up for a few hours working on this project while both Madison and Gordon joined in snoring harmony a few feet away in the bedroom!
Overall, we had a fun-filled weekend and we can’t wait to do it again in May for Memorial Weekend! Here are some more pictures from our weekend....
